Thrilla In Manilla

Your standing one one side/
and fighting for one side/

sharing what’s inside/

of your heart and your soul/

But then when it comes time/

To open up your mind/

It seems as if your blind/

and out of control/

Talking and listening at the same time won’t work/

Thinking submission is a felony crime won’t work/

The current condition of how love is defined doesn’t work/

We’re in this position because most don’t want to do the work/

Red Pill/ Glass of water/ head back/ take a shot/

Just chill/ I taught her/ how to move/ how to rock/

In the street/ Yin & Yang/ Showed her money ain’t a thang/

Gave her love/ gave her me/ Now she’s happy as can be/

We share our chicken wings/

we talk about everything & anything/

Be it old school/ new school/

Jazz/ Pop – Hip-Hop/ Quarter waters/ fast cars/

Motorcycles/ Rock Stars/ how we got our scars/

Who was at the bar/

Love doesn’t hurt/ Lies hurt/

Love works/ Ten toes/ To the dirt/

Is how we should treat each other/

Here comes the chatter/

About the things that matter to you/

But I don’t think your preferences help us love each other/

He’s gotta be rich/

He’s gotta be tall/

He’s gotta be cute/

He cannot be small/

That’s cool/

till a man/ takes a stand on a preference too/

Y’all act like you never cared/

I won’t take it there/

I’ll just end the verse here/

Your standing one one side/

and fighting for one side/

sharing what’s inside/

of your heart and your soul/

But then when it comes time/

To open up your mind/

It seems as if your blind/

and out of control/

Talking and listening at the same time won’t work/

Thinking submission is a felony crime won’t work/

The current condition of how love is defined doesn’t work/

We’re in this position because most don’t want to do the work/

We’re in a new era/ a new page of the story/

women are now in power/ & as the ladies step into glory/

It is obvious to me that the current division/

between men and women/ is swimming/

in old traditions/ & new beginnings/

Old traditions were like “My Way or the Highway”/

New beginnings are like “My Way or the Highway”/

Women & Men have been battling for control/ wrestling with their souls/

Like compromise isn’t the goal/

The focus is never on family/ Just what can you do for me?/

Can I hit it for free?/ If not then how much is the fee?/

It will cost your sanity/ your vanity/ your dignity/ and humanity/

and half of your salary/

Let’s be honest/ about the traumas/ before the promise/

before the drama/ before the his & hers pajamas/

Let’s do/ something new/ I submit/ & so do you/

pray together/ stay together/ Y’all all know that is true/

Or we can run in place where we are/

and never raise the bar/

never shoot for the stars/

& continue to act bizarre/

She goes to a corner/

He goes to a corner/

Before the opening ding/

& prepare to swing/

Your standing one one side/

and fighting for one side/

sharing what’s inside/

of your heart and your soul/

But then when it comes time/

To open up your mind/

It seems as if your blind/

and out of control/

Talking and listening at the same time won’t work/

Thinking submission is a felony crime won’t work/

The current condition of how love is defined doesn’t work/

We’re in this position because most don’t want to do the work~
