‘Speaking on the Evils”

I was talking face to face with an #Angel one day and she told me that I spoke on evil too much. She said, doing that gave evil power. I agree with this whole-heartily, however, I never want to confuse talking about evil too much with not speaking on it at all. I honestly feel that my purpose is to shine light on certain evils in the forms of stories. Noble as that may be, taking this route makes it harder for an artist to “break through” Many artist are aware of this and prioritize money over their artistic vision when it isn’t even necessary to do so. There are many disingenuous artist on top. Dancing to the hypnotic flute of easy money and following its sounds off of a peer to fall in a cold stagnant lake of disposable art. Thus, I have no illusions of being famous. I have no illusions of being a profit and I am not naive enough to believe that a great mass of people will take any wisdom in this form and apply it. However we must all play our position, and writing is mines. I love the events, show cases, features, open mics and such, but it doesn’t bring me the peace of mind or the clarity of the moment like “spazzing out” in verse on a late night when the moon is full.
NOTE: “Spazzing Out” in verse is when you are 100% in character or in a character’s head at the time you are writing a story. I have been so deep inside the pages, I was no longer behind the keyboard of a laptop. I was in the room of the character I was writing about. When you wake from this trance, you will have a whole chapter in front of you.
So hear I am at the fork in the road after a spazz-out that left me with with new chapters and halfway through my next book. I have seen this fork before. I could play it quiet and not speak on any evil but I have done that before and it turned me into something cold and unfamiliar. I could take a break here and invest into many outside aspects of the art I love but I haven’t felt confident enough to do so. Many of the current so-called business men and women in the game today are unwilling to take the necessary financial risk required to pull it off. Until they understand the concept of guts and glory, the game in which they play will never grow. Art is not supposed to stand still. I could play it safe but how much fun would one have wading in stagnated waters? I believe it is time to move this to the next level. I cannot reveal all of the details to what that is, but I can say it involves me writing for “the love” and nothing else. It also means a new level of discipline and focus. It is not to say that all of my art should be given away for free. Of course the writing and selling of books will continue. It is also not to say that we “sell-out” either. Meaning writing books catering towards the “Sale” of the book instead of the artistic vision. And lastly, speaking on the evils, it does not mean that I should always smile and act like some people aren’t fake, scheming, opportunistic, vain, self-centered, close-minded, style stealing, carbon copying clones sent to deceive, manipulate, divide, confuse, poison, water-down and rape the very culture artists like myself are trying to preserve.
So what does one do?
         Find a healthy balance…
                      And to accomplish this…
I will personify it in verse…
